Collection: Popwar

Popwar has an interesting story that bridges skate culture’s past and present:

🛹 Origins and early rise (2002–2007):
Popwar emerged in 2002 after New Deal Skateboards began losing steam. Cairo Foster, formerly of New Deal and Real, joined forces with Giant Distribution to reboot under the name Populis, quickly rebranding it as Popwar—with slick graphics by Yogi Proctor and a roster including Cairo, Kenny Reed, Chad Tim Tim, Rob Gonzalez, and Raymond Molinar. The brand carved out a niche with clean art and standout riders—but after Giant Distribution changed hands in 2005, Popwar’s infrastructure faltered. The company faded quietly by around 2007, as key staff departed and debts piled up.

🏁 Attempted revival (2011):
In 2011, the name briefly returned under a licensing deal in Utah. A limited run of six decks—mostly repeats of classic graphics—hit the market, but financial troubles shuttered the venture within six months .

🔮 The comeback (2025):
It's back! SideWalk Distribution teased Popwar’s return with a cryptic “Coming soon” post featuring skate legends like Louie Barletta, Steve Douglas, Bod Boyle, and Steve Rocco . This has reignited excitement among long-time fans. Although details remain under wraps, followers are speculating about potential reissues or a full brand revival—with or without Cairo Foster’s involvement.
